About
The journey of a pianist dedicated to artistry and expression
Born in Tangier, Radia Bakkali began piano studies at the age of eight at the National Conservatory of her hometown. Despite having no piano at home, her dedication and the encouragement of her late teacher, Kacem Zhiri, led her to win regional and national awards and perform in numerous concerts from a young age. His loss marked a defining moment in her artistic life and inspired her first composition, The Departed Soul.
Seeking broader musical and cultural horizons, Radia continued her studies internationally, first during an Erasmus exchange in Granada, then at the Professional Conservatory of Ceuta under the guidance of concert pianist Tomás Lobato Pérez. She later obtained her professional diploma and pursued advanced studies at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Málaga with pianist Víctor del Valle.
She has since participated in musical residencies in Serbia and Germany, won First Prize at the Ceuta Piano Competition (2017), performed in chamber ensembles, and accompanied choirs across Europe and Africa.
Parallel to her classical training, Radia developed a cinematic performance style through her YouTube project, recording iconic film soundtracks in historical locations across Tangier. This blend of storytelling, visuals, and piano performance would later shape her most ambitious artistic creation.
In 2025, Radia premiered ARCADE: The Musical Adventure, a multidisciplinary concert combining piano, looping, electronic sounds, projection mapping, interactive visuals, and video-game-inspired storytelling. Performed fully live with piano, loop station, keyboard, and atmospheric effects, ARCADE merges classical music with old-school arcade aesthetics, inviting the audience into a narrative musical quest. The show marks a turning point in her career and continues to evolve toward international stages.
Radia has served as a jury member of the National Piano Competition in Tangier (2022), gave her solo concert Infinite Melodies in 2023, and performed with the symphony orchestra of the Major School of Modern Arts of Málaga in 2024.
She is currently an official educator at the Royal School of Music in Málaga and teaches at the British School of Málaga, Nova School International, and Swans International School.
